The bomb crystals show up from corpses, and DoT deaths don't leave a corpse. On a related note, try not to let enemies die from a DoT if you can feasibly avoid it. The person who kills them gets a small heal out of it, so they are a nice way to give someone a little boost - and that heal can crit which also helps with stress.
